In October 2015 DECIPHer teamed up with PROPEL Centre for Population Health Impact at the University of Waterloo in Canada for the delivery of an intensive four day course on organisational and strategy evaluation.
The course focused on developing evaluation plans for organisations and incorporated a range of presentations and group sessions covering a number of topics, including how to plan, design as study and analyse any data collected.
Participants represented organisations such as the Canadian Cancer Society, Pan Canadian Joint Consortium for School Health, Parachute Canada, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging, who brought their own case studies to develop plans of evaluation.
Throughout the course presentations and workshops guided participants to develop plans for evaluation specific to their own organisations. The course included marketplace sessions where participants provided feedback on their developing plans, established links and shared examples of best practice. The course was very well received, with positive feedback from participants.
This course facilitated the initiation of the Waterloo Collaborative Learning Institute in Evaluation, a network of public health professionals and practitioners in Canada that will be maintained for future knowledge exchange, and strengthened DECIPHer’s existing partnership with PROPEL and the University of Waterloo.
Mid November will see the delivery of similar short courses at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health.
