ALPHA worked with The Association of Young People’s Health to plan a young people’s event running alongside the AYPH’s 2012 annual conference. The work included revising the information packs for young people, and advising on the needs of young people on the day and what topics the event should cover.
On the day, four members gave the introductory presentation at the conference, about their experiences of being involved in ALPHA and how to involve young people in research. Nineteen young people also questioned Dr Tony Jewell (the Chief Medical Officer for Wales at the time) and Professor Chris Bonell about how research influences health policy. The young people developed a series of key statements and nuggets of practical advice for health researchers that were filmed and presented back to the full conference audience.
