Evidence review for NICE public health guidance on ‘Tobacco harm reduction’

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has been asked by the Department of Health to develop guidance on the effectiveness of harm reduction approaches with the intention of quitting (i.e. ‘cutting down to quit’ or ‘reduction to stop smoking’), with and without assistance. The Support Unit for Research Evidence (SURE), tendered for the work in partnership with DECIPHer and Bangor University.

Aims & objectives
To carry out evidence reviews to inform NICE guidance on the topic
Study design
  • Systematic review and meta-analysis of interventions.
  • Systematic review and synthesis of qualitative evidence (barriers and facilitators).
