ALPHA – information for young people

Welcome to our ALPHA page!  It will explain everything you need to know about ALPHA.

The aim of ALPHA is to work with public health researchers in DECIPHer, providing advice on and insight into young people’s perspectives, views and experiences on public health topics and research that are relevant to them.

DECIPHer rewards young people for their contributions by rewarding them for their time, providing new experiences and lots of new opportunities.

What does ALPHA do?

ALPHA works with researchers to help shape the research they are working on. Our DECIPHer researchers work on topics around public health. Our researchers understand that to do research on anything affecting young people, they need to speak to young people. This is where ALPHA comes in! Young people are experts in their own lives and with ALPHA members living across South Wales, coming together you will have different experiences and perspectives.

ALPHA meets 10 times a year at our office in SPARK in Cardiff. The meetings are on Saturdays, 12-4pm.

What if I can’t get there?

We want to make sure that everyone is able to attend and there’s no barriers. We provide all travel tickets advance of meetings and parking is available. The office is a short walk away from Cardiff city centre.

We have developed an animation to explain exactly what ALPHA does what impact it has. Check it out!
