DECIPHer PhD Student Luke Midgely gave an Early Career Researcher presentation of his study on schools’ substance misuse policies in the EUSPR 2017 conference in Vienna, based on the qualitative analysis conducted for his doctoral thesis.

At the EPH conference in StockholmDr Kelly Morgan presented findings from the SHEP 2016 project and Dr Jemma Hawkins presented on the PACERS study.

Dr. Graham Moore sat on the Scientific Evaluation Committee at the French National Cancer Institute in Bordeaux.

Visits

Dr Sara Long travelled to Renmin University of China in Beijing to present her research on the SHRN survey and her data linkage projects.

Dr Hannah Littlecott visited Peking University in Beijing to engage in programmes of teaching and consultation.

Dr Jemma Hawkins attended a workshop on ‘Systems Thinking and Place-Based Methods for Healthier Malaysian Cities’ in Penang, Malaysia.

Dr Britt Hallingberg met with researchers working in substance use prevention in the Centre for Psychiatry Research at Karolinska Institute in Sweden.

Visitors

DECIPHer welcomed some longer-term guests: Nina Bartelink, a PhD student from Maastricht University in the Netherlands, and Torill Rotevatn, a PhD student from Aalborg University in Denmark. Visits

Dr G.J. Melendez-Torres completed a two-week stay at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, where he taught postgraduate students about complex evaluation and  synthesis methods.

Britt Hallingberg won an Erasmus Mobility Fellowship for a week-long visit to Palacký University Olomouc  in the Czech Republic, where she collaborated with members of the Faculty of Physical Culture on studies relating to organised leisure activities and health.

Professor Simon Murphy visited Aalborg University in Denmark to share learning about the Public Health Improvement Research Network (PHIRN).

G.J visited CRONICAS at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru to develop systematic review methods skills and explore potential collaborations relating to adolescent health.


August 2018

Visits

G.J. visited Stellenbosch University in South Africa to develop collaborations with colleagues at Prevention Research for Community, Family and Child Health, following on from their work supporting World Health Organization guideline development for adolescent health.
